I have worked for the same organization for more than 10 years. I love what I do, and have grown every day with the work and the people. I often thought I should spread my wings and move on to a less familiar environment but always figured "this is not the right time". Well... you wait long enough and someone might help you with that.
In February the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society formally merged into one organization under the Canadian Cancer Society. The tagline, "We are stronger together" is so incredibly true. While we both enjoyed different ways of working towards a similar goal, and in the past this has helped us reach out to different audiences, serve similar but different ways of getting to that goal, times have changed, and we need to work together to get the impact we need for our clients, volunteers, and donors.
With over 10 000 volunteers at our former organization transitioning to our new organization, we created these PowerPoint videos to provide a tool to help re-orient them to the new organization while sharing why we are stronger together.
I worked with a fantastic colleague from the other side of the country who did a lot of the heavy lifting, but one key change I made to the work was to take it from a very long single training to three shorter static webinars. While one is a little over 6mins and personally I think is still a bit long, the idea was to create these short videos to keep the attention of our audience throughout and allow them a bit more control on when to watch which one.
